Jasmina is currently an Events Director for Engineers Without Borders - UTS Chapter which is a student society with encourages students to create change through Humanitarian Engineering. As an Events Director, her goal is to create events such as Design Corner; an inter-university sustainability hackathon and the Humanitarian Engineering Conference in order to bring awareness to students about how engineers can make a postive contribution to the greater society. She also helped organise numerous School Outreach Programs with Engineers Without Borders such as Regioneering; a 5-day camp where engineering students volunteer their time and teach engineering modules to students in disadvantaged areas around New South Wales. This stems from her passion to empower and faciliate a new generation of passionate young students to realise their potential in the field of engineering. Jasmina has recently been elected as President for Engineers Without Borders - UTS Chapter in 2020, hoping to continue to carry out her passion to further promote humanitarian engineering.
Additionally, Jasmina also works with Code Like a Girl a social enteprise providing girls and women new innovative ways of learning in regard to the computer science industry
During my degree, I have volunteered with Women in Engineering and IT (WiEIT) at UTS to run and organise school outreach programs for primary and high school students to expose them to the field of engineering. I have also volunteered with WiEIT for the Primary School STEM Program which provide opportunities for students to undertake design thinking, technical skill development and collaboration with their peers. These volunteer work proved to be invaluable as I was able to demonstrate my skills as a confident communicator and enabled me to share my experiences as an engineering student to younger students.
