Natalie Tikhonovsky is a sophomore Public Health major at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. Through her various advocacy and outreach efforts on campus and the surrounding community, Natalie hopes to empower women and girls fleeing conflict, natural disaster, and persecution to achieve self-sufficency and self-determination as they establish new lives here in the U.S. Recognizing that refugee camps and other asylum shelters are rampant with unthinkable sexual violence, Natalie hopes to raise awareness for the plight of refugee women and girls and develop innovative and sustainable ways to address human rights violations among this vulnerable population. After Furman, Natalie plans to pursue a career combining her passion for transitional justice with her interest in public health.
