Although this is great for personal learning, this does not benefit the student when looking for a job or internship. The employer only sees what is on their resume or transcript. Maybe the student is an Industrial Engineer who is very skilled in machining. To a potential employer, they see that the student is an Industrial Engineer. There is no documented proof that this student is a skilled machinist. If a professor is willing to vouch for any student who, for example, is skilled in machining. Then the student should be giving the opportunity to prove to potential employers (on their transcript) that they are in fact skilled in machining.</span></span></span></span></span>
