<br/><br/><span style="color: rgb(84, 81, 75); font-family: 'Droid Sans', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; white-space: pre-wrap; line-height: 19px1.38; background-color: transparent;">Benjamin Riddle is has been a Duke Scholar University Innovation Fellow at Furman University where he works with the Office of the President to explore design thinking and social entrepreneurship as strategies for engaged learningsince April 2014. Ben has represented Furman at the HPI School of Design Thinking’s d.convestival, As a designer and brought Cannon Design, the Associated Colleges of the South, and two Furman departments together to create Design for Social Change, an interdisciplinary course that serves as a model for reinvigorating the liberal arts through design. He has also launched POP Studio – a social design studio for public works projects.</span><br/><br/><span style="color: rgb(84, 81, 75); font-family: 'Droid Sans', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;">From TEDx events to community celebrations, fashion shows to multi-million dollar fundraising campaignsimpact strategist, Ben creates events and experiences that connect networks works across sectors to create shared value. He has worked with Greenville Forward, TEDxGreenville, and is the founding curator of TEDxFurmanUunlock human ingenuity. Ben is currently working with the TED Breaker Project’s global team immersed in systems of learning and education, where he’s creating spaces for stakeholders to explore “The Future of Stuff” at the Stanford d.schoolcatalyze and sustain positive change.</span>

Through his work and studies at Furman University, Ben partners with students, faculty, administrators and alumni to create new initiatives that use design thinking as a strategy for engaged learning. As a freshman, Ben brought Cannon Design, the Associated Colleges of the South and two academic departments together to create Design for Social Change – an interdisciplinary course that introduces design thinking as a tool for community problem solving. Recently, Ben has represented the Furman and the Fellows at the Stanford d.school, the HPI School of Design Thinking’s d.confestival, the Deshpande Symposium on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education and at the National Academy of Sciences.</span>

In recent years, Ben has worked with Future Partners and Project M to foster sustainable development in the rural South and launched 10-4 Good City, a network of social entrepreneurs that share resources, connections and ideas across cities. Ben has also worked with the Institute of Child Success to explore ways that human centered design can be used to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families in the early childhood system. Currently, Ben is </span><span style="font-family: Arial; color: rgb(84, 81, 75); vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: transparent;">working with urban designers and service providers in the Upstate of South Carolina to develop a new model for homeless service provision that integrates housing and services with pathways to education, entrepreneurship and vocational agriculture in a mixed-income community.</span></span>
