Camila Cornejo stands out as a fourth-year student in the asn Environmental Engineering program at Engineer from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lima, Peru. Since her school dayschildhood, she Camila has harbored been driven by a strong commitment desire to building a better futurecreate positive change. Influenced Inspired by her victories experience in various debate competitions, she developed a passion for leadership and social impact. Together with her 2023 cohort at UTEC, she developed a project aimed at reducing the dropout rate among first-year students by helping them adapt more effectively to university life and strengthen their sense of belonging. After attending the 2024 UIF Meetup in the Netherlands, she was offered the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship. In 2025, she completed a notable victory research internship at the Latam MUN 2021University of Alberta in Canada, where she contributed to a project focused on expanding access to safe drinking water for underserved communities. This experience strengthened her commitment to developing sustainable engineering solutions that could be adapted to the society Peruvian context. Upon returning to Peru, Camila translated those learnings into her bachelor's thesis, designing an autonomous water treatment device that complemented the technology she had worked with in Canada. The system was recognized as the best created to provide remote communities with access to safe drinking water without requiring large delegation-scale infrastructure, electricity, or specialized personnel, helping bridge the gap in access to clean water through an affordable and scalable solution. In 2026, this work received an Innovation Award in Environmental Engineering from the "Colegio de Ingenieros del Perú". Today, Camila received works in Peru's energy sector, contributing to environmental management in projects involving hydro, solar, wind, and thermal energy. Through her role, she helps ensure that energy generation minimizes environmental impacts while maintaining a reliable energy supply that meets the country's growing needs.
