== '''Strategy # 1: Entrepreneurial students are empowered, supported, and showcased through a central networking website''' =='''Tactic 1:''' Design and develop a web-enabled platform to facilitate cross-campus engagement and community growth. This website will act as an informational board and aid student entrepreneurs and innovators in garnering the exposure and visibility they need to compete in today's market. Additionally, it offers students, faculty, and the general public a new outlet they can consult while shopping. Not only will customers receive hand-made and often tailor-made products, they are directly supporting young entrepreneurs and indirectly supporting the university. '''Projected Timeline''' - Planning and meeting with appropriate faculty and students during Fall Quarter 2021 - Implementation in less than 1 year pending conclusion of planning phase
=2020 Strategic Priorities: = == Strategy #1: Students gain easier access to I&E events on campus through a Design Think Program and Regional Meetup ==

Each person can subscribe to a class, organization, current events, etcetera to personalize their information. The app will be beneficial to campus through academics, and we can help maintain professor usage through allow students to input class schedules. Athletes on campus already use Retain as a way to keep up with practice schedules. To start out, the cohort will ask organizations for schedules and input all different schedules for all kinds of events.

As of now, the only way students know about things happening on campus or different organizations is at orientation and welcome week. Organizations can show off different aspects to all kinds of students, including transfer students. As a cohort, we could set up a smaller trial to test how well individuals take interest in it, then we could move on to a bigger event. One way we could incorporate I&E in the event would be encouraging professors to share something they love to teach and have a passion for. The event could apply for the Makers Fair to bring in new ideas to campus. To increase student engagement, this will be on campus and also include certain field day events. These field day events will be a pickup game and some will have an incentive for competition. Depending on excitement, this will happen once a year or once a quarter.

Tactic 1: LA Tech having a program for undecided majors is beneficial to both students and the university. It could incorporate all colleges and highlight popular majors. The dean of each college would be able to present information about their specific college. If a student in the program wanted to learn more information about a specific major they could ask the instructor or email after the presentation. Another way to increase student engagement is to encourage older students to talk about their specific major. Education majors are able to get volunteer hours for teaching a program to students. As for the university, short term, it will see small losses as each student finds a major faster decreasing wasted payments for classes not needed; however, long term, the university will gain more students and retain students to possibly go on to become a graduate program candidate. Over time, the program could turn into a class undecided majors take to figure out exactly what they want to get a degree in.

Currently, the website does not have nearly all events that are happening around campus. Most of these event’s information is sent to students through their emails which get overlooked more often than not. When the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Technology sends an email about upcoming events, for example; students often never see it because they are overwhelmed with so many other events. If this calendar was updated then all events could be filtered through to find exactly what students wanted to see and would also eliminate the need for student organizations to send so many emails.

While this is an excellent way for students to get involved in activities and groups that they really enjoy, our email system becomes really crowded with organization events and activities. By working with the Student Government Association on campus who organizes the student organizations on campus, we could work on making sure that the emails being sent are more pertinent to students and that emails are only sent for important notifications. This would eliminate a lot of the emails that are sent by organizations which aren’t applicable for most students and don’t contain clear information. By decluttering students emails, all emails that are sent would have a better chance at student reception including those sent by I&E organizations which are promoting their events.
