|content=<br>We are currently planning to hold the 2021 Meetup in person.
<br>
This is subject to change based on the pandemic’s status at that future time. While we wish we could have more control over the situation, we are operating and making decisions under the same extreme uncertainty as your institutions and the rest of the world. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with you.
<br><br>
We had to postpone, and then eventually cancel, the March 2020 Meetup due to the pandemic. Our plan is for all of last year’s Fellows to join your cohort at the 2021 Meetup. }}

|title=Requirement to Attend
|content=<br>
In order to be invited to the Silicon Valley Meetup 2021, Fellows will have to show that they've made some type of traction on their campus project/s in the four to five weeks after launch. Here's how that will work.
<br><br>
In December, the UIF team will send Fellows a form called an impact report so Fellows can share an update on their campus project/s. Fellows who are able to demonstrate measurable traction or learning with their projects will receive an invitation to attend the Silicon Valley Meetup, March 18-22, 2021. The impact report will be due December 11, 2020.
<br><br>
The UIF team will review Fellows' impact reports in December and early January, and will send invitations to the Meetup in mid-January. To receive an invitation to the Meetup, Fellows will need to demonstrate one of these items in impact reports:
:* Fellows accomplished one or more of their proposed projects
:* Fellows made progress towards accomplishing one or more of their projects
:* Fellows pivoted from one or more of their proposed projects
:* Fellows are still early in the planning stages for their proposed projects, but they are doing work that is helping them learn more about their goal/audience/need

|title=The Silicon Valley Meetup
|content=<br>
The Silicon Valley Meetup will take place March 19-23, 2021. We will spend several packed days together in the Bay Area at Google Headquarters and Stanford's d.school. The experience is an amazing learning opportunity that empowers Fellows to make an even greater impact on their campus. We'll share more details about what to expect from the 2020 Meetup soon.<br><br>
In the meantime, check out recaps from a few of our past Meetups: [https://universityinnovationfellows.org/creating-change-together/ creating change together] (2019), [https://universityinnovationfellows.org/a-family-of-changemakers/ a family of changemakers] (2018), and a [http://universityinnovationfellows.org/celebration-to-remember/ celebration we'll never forget] (2017). For a Fellow's perspective, you can read up on Mike Huang's (IUPUI) [https://hub.kelley.iupui.edu/blog/_blog/%20kelley-students-reflect-on-experiences-in-silicon-valley-stanford-d-school-and-university-innovation-fellows-program.html life-changing experience], or Mary McGee's [https://medium.com/university-innovation-fellows/how-the-university-innovation-fellow-meet-up-changed-my-perspective-ab271c7786b6 change in perspective].<br><br>
'''Does your faculty champion want to attend the Silicon Valley Meetup?'''<br>
Faculty champions can request to attend the meetup alongside students who have been selected to attend. Those faculty who attend must participate in the full event, alongside the Fellows from their school. We will share invitations with faculty after Fellows have received their invitation to attend.<br><br>
'''How much does the Meetup cost?'''<br>
Institutions are asked to cover the cost of Fellows' travel (by plane, train or automobile) and hotel stay. The program covers event transportation and meals once the event begins. If you are unsure of the availability of funds to cover your travel, start by talking to your faculty champion. Many have already set aside a budget for that purpose. If not, you may be required to be entrepreneurial in seeking out sources of funding across campus. We urge you to get started right away.<br><br>{{Fmbox|image=none| style = border:5px solid #008b8b; background-color:#f1fcf8;|text=
{{Fmbox|image=none|text=Please note that your participation and attendance at the Silicon Valley Meetup is contingent on your ability to successfully complete the online training and demonstrate some level of impact after training. The UIF program is not responsible for any costs incurred by you or your school in relation to the Meetup.}}}}
