Darren DeFrain, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of English and Director of the Writing Program at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. He is the author of the novel, ''The Salt Palace'' (New Issues, 2005) and the story collection, ''Inside & Out'' (MSR 2008). He is currently at work on a history of postpunk Kansas (with colleague Fran Connor) for KU Press. DeFrain teaches composition, fiction, fiction studies and graphic narratives. Along with former student and current Florida State University Ph.D. candidate, Aaron Rodriguez, he is developing an app, called Vizling, that uses haptic response and other stimuli to help blind and visually impaired readers navigate graphic narratives in more accessible and equitable ways.
