Jeni Weber earned her Bachelors degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). <br /><br />She now works 's spent the past 6+ years doing marketing for an education technology startup that uses AI companies, seeing two companies through to read and grade student handwriting, saving teachers time and offering them deeper insights into student performanceacquisition. She does marketing, illustration, content creation, customer support, and product quality assurance. Being able to wear many hats is what she loves most about the currently works for an AI education startup environment. <br /> <br />Jeni's introduction to startups was in 2015 when she worked with joined the first student-created startup company of UAB's Innovation Lab, Satterfield Technologies. She worked on business models, branding, and outreach. This work allowed her to rapidly learn through the Innovation Lab's mentors and hands-on experience, and . It was her initiation to the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. She Jeni became a University Innovation Fellow in the Fall of 2016, and attended the Silicon Valley Meetups in March 2017 and November 2017. Her work as a Fellow while in school involved creating and maintaining the UAB Makerspace, a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship on campus. She enjoyed helping the space grow and facilitating educational events there. <br /><br />But most of Jeni graduated in April of 2017, but she continues to contribute 's work as a University Innovation Fellow by interviewing students happened ''after'' graduating. Since 2018, Jeni has annually interviewed candidates for the University Innovation Fellows program and supporting . She's supported new fellows at campuses around the world through their 6-week UIF training. <br /><br /> Since graduating, Jeni has implemented the design thinking she learned from UIF to her life by prototyping different careers and being open to opportunitiesbeyond. She's done freelance marketing, worked helped host the Silicon Valley Meetups as a yoga studio assistant, and spent a year traveling and teaching English "FAB" in Thailand March 2022 and Bulgaria. Her current job integrates those experiencesMarch 2023, as well as the first University of Twente Meetup in April 2024. She wrote the article "A Guide to Sharing Your Work" for the first edition of ''Change Forward'', a UIF publication. Jeni once took a personality test and discovered that 4 out of 5 of her love of fast-paced startup culturetop strengths have to do with empathizing with and supporting other people. She currently lives in Denverrealized two things after taking that test: 1) what makes the UIF program so special to her is the human connection, Coloradoand 2) her favorite way to contribute to the UIF program is by supporting incoming Fellows and their mentors. <br /><br />
