Fellow:Shafe Ahmed
Shafe Ahmed is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student studying Biochemistry and Finance at Virginia Polytechnic and State University (Virginia Tech). Shafe is originally from Woodbridge, Virginia where he has lived all of his life. After figuring out his love for Finance and Science, he decided to enroll in Virginia Tech due to the vast alumni network there. After meeting countless people and learning about Virginia Tech as a whole, he was exposed to the University Innovation Fellows.
At Virginia Tech, Shafe is involved with the Biochemistry department building relationships and community within the University. In addition, he works to guide other Biochemistry students in identifying resources and figuring out a pathway for their academic success. In his free time, he likes to read up on what is happening with the markets and do cancer research on the side.
The beginning of 11th grade year, Shafe decided to start his own tutoring business after working for a tutoring company. Through his tutoring company he also provided free help for families that are applying for SNAP and TANF benefits. His passion for helping people has made his goals set into expanding his tutoring business to provide free online education through affordable cellular devices in countries where education is not as readily available.
