Learn to have thick skin and you yourself back against a "no". When I was in skill I received initial pushback against the idea of implementing a gay/straight alliance, the school's headmaster said it was inappropriate but I stood my ground and continued with the vision regardless. I appealed to student boards and gathered a group of students who supported my cause.
