Overview
JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur stands aloft on a solid foundation of past glory and prestige. This college was started in the year 1946, under the post war reconstruction program and functioned at Guindy campus, Madras for two years and was shifted to Anantapur in 1948. It was in the year 1958 that the college was shifted to the present permanent buildings accommodating the Administrative block, Laboratories, the Engineering Departments, Library and the Hostel blocks. During the first 25 years of its existence, it was affiliated to the Madras and S V University and produced distinguished alumni, who are holding high positions, in India and abroad. It has great tradition to be proud of. Fortified with traditional values and dedicated spirit of the staff and the students, it would rise up to any occasion or meet any challenge confidently.
The college became a constituent college of the formed Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad in 1972 and presently it is a constituent college of newly formed JNT University Anantapur, Anantapur since August 2008. This college has vast campus sprawling over an area of 185 acres, in a peaceful atmosphere, away from the dust and din of the town. With this a new era was ushered in Technical Education. Consequently there was an impetus to the academic activity of this college. Thought the College was initially established to provide basic technical education, with the passage of time, it emerged out, as one of the colleges to fulfill the technical need of our fast developing India with highly professional and well trained graduates.
JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur as on now runs:
- B.Tech Programmes in six branches
- M Tech Programmes in sixteen specializations and
- MCA
In a sprawling campus of 155.23 Acres the College is putting all its efforts by introducing new trends in Teaching Learning Processes, towards realizing objectives of stated vision and mission and impacting the
Quality of Technical Education.

Student Entrepreneurship
To support Student passion and innovation towards the Entrepreneurship, Our University facilitated many opportunities to the students pursuing their education irrespective of their disciplines. University also paved way to appreciate student skills with real world exposure in dealing the projects, Starting a company and then return to their education by availing an option for span of two years as year gaps in their 8 year course period.
University has Entrepreneurship Development Programming Cell (EDPC) which was established in the year 2008 with a vision to empower students with required Entrepreneurial skills in appreciable level which in turn has India's Economic prosperity through the present generation. Many seminars were organized to impart the knowledge among the students by reputed companies among which are also small firms earning large investments to their startups and encouraged the students by providing backup in terms of financial assistance, work-plan to implement their ideas, hiring their ideas, etc.,
Even the University tried in vain to bring about the change in the attitudes of students towards the Job sector by explaining the importance of one's own power by organizing the free workshops, awareness programs in the University premises.
Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Faculty contribution and support is a primary step in supporting and respecting the students' opinions. Most of the seminars conducted were during the class timings and the faculty had agreed to make the students attend for the same by giving up their classes. This kind of support is needed and pushes the student to develop a positive attitude towards the Entrepreneurship by attending such events. They welcome the innovative ideas of students and explain them the pros and cons of their idea to improve their idea into a prototype. Faculty often explain the current issues in the industry life which will help the students to analyze the situations and plan accordingly.
University Technology Transfer Function
To support this functioning, University Grants commission (UGC) and Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) takes care of updating the technology across the University by providing financial assistance in providing the students with updated world to work with, by doing so work life is made easy without getting trained for new equipment. It also provides funds from a computer to heavy machinery.
University - Industry Collaboration
To get the students ready with industry experience University adapt some measures to give hands on experience. University also has signed many MOUs for encouraging the students to pursue their higher ducation without any hassles in abroad.
Regional and Local Economic Development
Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corpration (APSSDC) and another two other programs work effectively towards the growth of the University funds. These programs are meant to create awareness on the current issues and thereby attract the funding from the alumni, through which University will have their technology, equipment needed gets updated.
