Gabriel Herman is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student attending Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. He is a sophomore studying mechanical engineering and is part of the University Innovation Fellows cohort of fall 2018 along with three other students at Clemson University. He is originally from Winston-Salem, NC and became part of the tiger family fall of 2017.

Throughout high school, Gabriel was heavily involved with the swim team and lead the team as the captain for his junior and senior year. He also has hobbies of sailing, hiking, running, biking and CrossFit. He was also a recipient of the IB diploma and was involved in the outreach and planning team for his churches youth group.

After coming to Clemson freshman year, Gabriel became very involved with the DEN, a UIF initiative, where he was introduced to UIF by other students who were UIFs and faculty who supported the program. After his freshman year, Gabriel became an intern for the DEN over the summer and is taking over this year as the student leader for the DEN.

In high school, Gabriel became very interested in entrepenuraship and innovation. This is one of the reasons that lead him to joining the DEN at Clemson. While at Clemson, he has also had the opportunity of starting and running a pitch competition that promotes student innovation and entrepenuraship called the CECAS Spark Challenge. He and other UIFs are currently planning the first year of the competition that will take place in mid-February.
