About

Folasade Adekanle is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate Biomedical Engineering student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T). Folasade was born in Lagos, Nigeria and, at the age of four, Folasade came to America with her family. Currently, Folasade’s passion lies in healthcare, and more specifically, the cost of healthcare. Her long-term goal in life is to one day own her very own hospital that everyone can afford.

At her school, Folasade is a proud member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, the only Engineering honor society. On her campus, Folasade has helped to host a Design Thinking Workshop at a Women’s Empowerment Summit. She also currently serves as the Chief Information Officer of her campus’ chapter of Enactus, a social entrepreneurship organization where she is currently carrying out projects to help with homelessness and recycling and working with the second runner up of Mrs. Ghana USA to fight infant mortality rate in Ghana.

Often described as eccentric, unique, and fashion forward, Folasade can be found in her free time browsing local art galleries, performing spoken word pieces at local cafes and pop-up centers or simply just watching anime or gaming. As a University Innovation Fellow, Folasade plans on doing a lot more on her college campus.
