William McMullen is a sophomore Mechanical Engineer at Santa Clara University, located in the heart of California's Silicon Valley. Hailing from Marin County, CA, Will is an avid sailor, musician, and self-proclaimed maker. When he's not found in the Maker Lab, you can find him on his front porch playing guitar or mandolin, working on electronic music production in his bedroom, or planning new projects with his friends. Will is conversationally proficient in Mandarin Chinese, and is an experienced and certified instructor, with 6+ years of experience coaching sailing to kids age 8-19 of all skill levels.
As the Vice President of Santa Clara Innovation and Design, Will is currently working to apply his engineering studies to pursuits in Human-Centered Design and Entrepreneurship, striving to work on identifying and tackling the problems people face on a daily basis. At SCID, Will helps to run daily meetings, which consist of half-hour to hour-long lessons focused on teaching innovation and entrepreneurship skills that aren't addressed by other classes at SCU, brainstorming and ideation sessions, and quarter-long competitions that help to foster the entrepreneurial mindset amongst SCU's students from all majors.
