Texas Tech University - 'Spring UIF 2015

Taylor Person is a graduating senior studying plant and soil science at Texas Tech University. She developed an interest in biology, particularly in plant sciences, after taking an unconventional biology course taught by an incredibly passionate professor. To this day, she strives to emulate her former professor in work, school and home.

Taylor currently works in a genomics lab studying gene function in cotton, particularly the genes that code for fiber development. As a result of her extensive lab experience both from work and class, she noticed areas of improvement in the lab space. One of her goals in developing an atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship is to conduct lab surveys. She hopes to improve hands-on experience and providing sufficient, up-to-date equipment in the lab setting.
