Melody Tashjian is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student studying Mechanical Engineering with a Concentration in Honors at Rowan University. Her love with art, design, and physics led her to become a Mechanical Engineer. She has been a Jersey girl for her whole life as she grew up right alongside the Jersey Shore. However, she loves traveling and is always exploring new places. Currently her professional focus thus far has been in the Power Industry. She is a recognized IEEE Power and Energy Scholar. However, she is open to learning and trying other industries. Her open mindset has been the driving force behind her innovative thinking.

Melody is one of the co-founders of Rowan University's IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) professional chapter. Our chapter is the only student run chapter in the Philadelphia region. In this club, she helps combine the different perspectives and innovative thoughts of the members to create new workshops and events, such as Rowan's first ever Wearable Electronics Fashion Show, to allow for student growth in both male and female engineers outside of the classroom. Being a co-founder of a professional organization and also helping to run it has secured her interests in entrepreneurial work. On top of running IEEE WIE, Melody is also the Communications Lead of Engineers Without Borders, a student tech worker at Rowan's computer labs, an Honors Peer Mentor, a member of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honors Society, and also a dancer in one of Rowan's dance clubs.
