Bio
Sarah is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is passionate about making higher education accessible all and sharing her love of mathematics in new and innovative ways that make subject often perceived to be difficult fun and exciting instead.
After graduating, Sarah is hoping to continue her education in pursuit of obtaining a Ph.D. in mathematics in the hopes of becoming a college professor. In that position, she hopes to explore new ways to improve the teaching of mathematics while supporting initiatives aimed at ensuring equal opportunity within higher education regardless of gender, race, socio-economic status, or any other factors that can inhibit one's ability to pursue post-secondary education.
Currently, Sarah is working on developing a website targeted a providing supplementary materials specifically for courses offered at her institution in an effort to increase the availability of resources for students who might be struggling with their coursework.
Achievements
Sarah was accepted as a member of the Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship in 2020. This scholarship supports students who achieved academic excellence during high school and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship followed her 5 year tenure in the Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars Program.
