Fellow:Nichole Mackey
Nichole is a third-year software engineering student at Michigan Technological Universityinterested in the automotive industry, specifically working with embedded systems in connected vehicle. She is also pursuing a minor in economics. Nichole began learning about her leadership style at Michigan Tech’s LeaderShape Institute over the course of a week of winter break in 2015. She continues to grow as a leader by being a member of the Pavlis Honors College, pursuing the global pathway in the Pavlis Institute, learning about the problems our world is currently facing in preparation of planning a project to execute in India the summer of 2017. This experience was furthered by having the opportunity to attend the 2015 Global Grand Challenges Summit in Beijing, China. Her involvement on campus includes being the vice president of the Women in Computer Science (WiCS) group and joining University Innovation Fellows with the fall 2015 cohort. Every day she awakens to a clean slate full of opportunity and follows Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote: “do one thing everyday that scares you”. In her spare time, Nichole enjoys trail running, experimenting in the kitchen and spending time, filled with laughter, amongst family and friends.
