Bio

Mela Hammond is an Entrepreneurship student at Central Michigan University who is also studying Professional Sales and Management. She is currently employed as a student coordinator for CMU's Financial Wellness Collaborative. She is also the current president of CMU Women's Club Soccer.

Mela grew up in Hartland, Michigan where she graduated from Hartland High School in 2022. As a kid, Mela loved to play soccer, read, and watch Jeopardy with her dad. Following her graduation from high school, she was admitted to the Central Michigan University Honors Program as a Centralis Scholar and promptly enrolled in the 2026 cohort.

After her graduation from CMU, Mela would love to work at a social startup. As a lifelong learner with an affinity for working with people, her dream is to own a business of her own and make a difference in her community. Some of the causes she is passionate about include financial literacy, the science of storytelling, and educational access.
