UIF Fall 2014

Leah Bauer is a senior studying Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering at Grand Valley State University, Michigan. She is also an intern at Autocam, and COO at Fluition LLC. She enjoys playing sports and being outdoors. You can find her snowmobiling in the winter and boating in the summer. One of Leah’s biggest achievements is overcoming her learning disability. After being diagnosed with dyslexia, the support from her family and the encouragement from her father inspired Leah to pursue an education in engineering. Currently Leah is part of a startup company, Fluition LLC with other students from Grand Valley State University. Together they are working on a patient handling device designed specifically for the intensive care unit. This experience has invoked Leah’s interest in entrepreneurship and prompted her to pursue a master’s degree in business at the University of Michigan. Leah has applied for University Innovation Fellows program with the hope that she can encourage other students to pursue their ideas and innovation at Grand Valley State University.
