Julia Heaton is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student studyingSociology andPsychology at the University of San Diego (USD). Julia is originally from Fullerton, CA.

At the University of San Diego, Julia is involved with the Changemaker Hub. Within the Changemaker Hub she serves as Social Change Corps Fellow facilitating undergraduate and graduate student teams through design thinking to explore a solution and take action on a social justice issue such as LGBTQ+ rights, sustainability on campus, access to higher education for the surrounding community, and more. She also works in the Creative Zone assisting students pursuing their artistic ideas. She is a guide with Outdoor Adventures and has led multiple trips for incoming first year students.

From a young age, Julia has been passionate about social justice issues.  In high school, she was very involved with Best Buddies. Upon her fourth year in the club she served as president of the largest club on campus with over 200 members. Also in high school she partnered with a local non-profit called CareerWise, which aims to find long-term employment for the homeless, to start her own club to serve the local homeless population of Fullerton. Last summer Julia found a passion in the field of public and global health after being a Medical Intelligence and Innovation Summer Intern at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
