Fellow:Jhazmin Gomez Reyes
Jhazmin Gomez Reyes is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student studying Economics and Hispanic Studies at Converse College and is a part of the Nisbet Honors Program. She has grown up and lived in Spartanburg, SC her entire life, and has enjoyed exploring her hometown through Converse.
Jhazmin is involved in the Hispanic Awareness Association (HAA) and she is a member of the Honor Board. She is one of the tutors at the new Spanish Writing & Language Center. She is a student-worker in the Student Life offices. It was through her relationship with a mentor in the Career Service offices that she first heard about the University Innovation Fellows and pursued it.
Her passions include entrepreneurship and international business, and she is currently researching alongside her professor about the migration of Haitians to the United States in search of political asylum. As the daughter of immigrants, she knows the process of navigating through different cultures and the importance of establishing reliability and relationships.
