Ashley S. Kelsey
Graduate Student, Prairie View A&M University
Ashley S. Kelsey is an University Innovation Fellow at Prairie View A&M University, working to expand the ecosystem on campus. In doing so, she works with Epicenter leaders at Stanford University and VentureWell (formerly NCIIA) to ensure all students graduate with an entrepreneurial mindset. Ashley is currently a graduate student seeking a masters of science in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Communication and Signals. She was inspired to become an engineer because her father is an engineer and she excelled in math and science. She chose to pursue her masters in electrical engineering because she felt like she wasn't prepared to enter the work force with just a bachelors degree. She wanted a more in depth comprehension of the field she was going in and did not feel that this was obtained in her undergraduate years at Prairie View. This inspired her to want to become a University Fellow. She wants to be a change and a voice for other students at Prairie View A&M University. Ashley is involved in various organizations on campus: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and the woman's track team. Ashley is always seeking ways to positively impact people she comes in contact with at her school and in her community and is passionate about learning and being a positive impact wherever she goes.
