Texas Tech student majoring in Industrial Engineering

Witnessing how technology empowers people that have been traditionally marginalized, especially in developing countries such as his native Mexico, made Alfonso believe that research, innovation, and entrepreneurship are the most effective venues for economic development, social change, and a sustainable future.

Every innovation ecosystem relies on both the entrepreneurs' creative approach to solve challenges and the people's willingness to embrace new technologies. This is why Alfonso has been involved with entities that lead initiatives to develop local, regional, national and global I&E networks that includes an accelerator, an angel investor group, a technology transfer office, entrepreneurship student organizations, and economic development organizations.

Alfonso is particularly interested on learning about emerging economies that are are laying the foundations to compete in the global market powered by improved educational access, public policy reforms, and technology adoption and development.
