Fellow:Alex Finch
Alex's passion is to expand the reach of human civilization and help alleviate global problems, through engineering. Specifically, Alex is interested primarily in the development of highly sophisticated aerospace structures. As a fourth year structural engineering major at UC San Diego he serves as the Vice Presient of the UCSD Chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) which was the first university entity to design, print, and test a 3d-printed metal rocket engine. Alex hopes to inspire others to find a deep passion that drives them to innovate for a better world. Alex is a Jacobs School of Engineering Gordon Scholar as well as a NACME and CAMP scholar and is part of the Moxie Center at UCSD, working on the prospects of commercializing 3d printed rocket engine technology. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, cooking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. A native of the Bay Area he stays true to his roots by following the Oakland Raiders, Oakland Athletics, and Golden State Warriors. Alex plans to work towards a Master's Degree following graduation from UCSD.
