Bio
Aditya Sivakumar is a sophomore at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, majoring in Economics and Computer Science. He began his academic journey as a premed but soon felt that the healthcare industry can be dishearteningly kneecapped by conflicting incentives and inefficiency. These realizations sparked in him a desire to identify the other ways in which certain business practices and economic policies can harm growth and individual well-being. In a move that undermined months of academic planning, Aditya Sivakumar pivoted to the study of economics, with the goal of understanding how companies, especially the healthcare sector, and governments can balance profits and social good while increasing efficiency and innovation. He applied this philosophy at an internship at JOGO Health, a medical device startup, where he identified ways to streamline the quickly-growing supply chain, solved customers' individual demands, and digitized the patient intake process.
In his free time, Aditya Sivakumar reads about international news and foreign policy, a passion that grew from perusing his uncle's vast collection of historical and war movies. Aditya used this interest to create an educational flight simulator with his more technically-inclined friends, where players can fly around a map of Europe and learn relevant information about each country. He hopes to soon expand this early-stage project so that students can learn about the whole world and become more informed citizens.
