Bio
Melanie Bowman joined the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Khalifa University in 2020. She has over 20 years of experience teaching in Australia and the United Arab Emirates at the undergraduate and post graduate level. She is also experienced in delivering training within the vocational education, corporate and military sectors. She has been involved in key training projects and initiatives within commercial and educational environments. Her experience extends into executive coaching and business consulting.

Technical Areas
Melanie has taught a wide range of courses during her academic career at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. These include Leadership; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Organisational Behaviour; Team Building, Training & Development, Organisational Behaviour, Tourism & Event Management.
Research Interests
Melanie’s research interests and activities include:
· collaborative learning approaches using innovation;
· Design Thinking for business and learning
· sport, leadership and corporate wellness;
· engaging community through cycling;
· events and sports tourism
Sporting Interests
Melanie’s passion is cycling and she is actively involved in the Abu Dhabi sporting community as a race participant in running and cycling events. Melanie also volunteers at the sporting events with the most memorable being involved with the Special Olympics. Melanie worked on a project with the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy coaching beginner runners in Abu Dhabi. The greatest achievement of this run group was seeing one of the runners complete a marathon - amazing!
