As a woman of color I attended a diverse school, and I lived in a diverse neighborhood that allowed me to embrace different cultures. Adapting to my environment, especially my educational experiences afforded me opportunities, and resources that were beneficial to my success in my educational pursuit. I advanced in my educational experiences, work experiences, and technology skills. I can’t ignore the fact that this is my story, and for many students unless proper systems are put in place to encourage equality many students won’t have the same experiences that I have been privileged to possess. There is inequality in the education system. The inadequacy with funding in low-income districts, and communities is a huge issue. The disparity negatively affects the way schools are funded throughout our country, and this is definitely a major factor in how our students perform in schools based on what resources are available to them. There are students that come from lower income communities that do not have the proper resources available for them to achieve in higher education or are given the same opportunities that most students are able to receive based on economic status, social class. I believe that everyone should be given the same opportunities to succeed and receive the same education.
