Narasaraopeta Engineering College was established in the year 1998 by Gayatri Educational Development Society, Narasaraopeta under the leadership of Sri.M.V. Koteswara Rao and managed by Sri Chakravarthi Mittapalli, who have a vision to develop and transform NEC into an autonomous institution of higher learning & knowledge, which is dedicated in the designing, development and delivery of technology enabled learning experiences to promote student satisfaction and success.

The college is approximately 40 kms from Guntur, 240 kms from Hyderabad and the closest airport is about 100 kms, which is in Gannavaram, Vijayawada. It is conveniently located on the railway line of Guntur to Guntakal and is on the state highway.

Undergraduate
Students are admitted to four-year undergraduate programs in two categories: A and B. Category-A seats make up 70 percent of the college's total seats, and are filled through Convener and the Andhra Pradesh EAMCET. Category-B seats are filled by the administration through newspaper advertisements.

Students are also admitted to the two-year graduate programs in two categories: A and B. Category-A seats make up 70 percent of the total. Fifteen percent of the Category-B seats, which are filled by the administration, are available to NRI candidates. MCA seats are filled in the same manner.

The school has facilities for cricket, volleyball, Basketball, tennikoit, Throwball, Kho kho, Kabaddi, badminton and athletics. Chess, table tennis and carrom are played in the indoor arena.
Student Activity Council
Student Activity Council is a student body in the institute which enables students to organize,conduct and monitor major and minor activities that will enable student to inherit leadership traits.Student activity council interacts with students and helps them if they have any problems.They make sure that anti-Ragging is present.
