Fellow:Ayleem Garcia Gomez

Ayleem Garcia, is a student at UNAN-Managua in Nicaragua, soon to graduate with a bachelor's degree for Social Anthropology.  

She now works with the Anthropology Department in her University as an interpreter during exchange programs between UNAN-Managua and the University of Grand Valley in Michigan. As well, she collaborates as a translator for Revista Raices; a Nicaraguan magazine of anthropology. 

Ayleem has traveled around Nicaragua as part of her field experience in her education, as well as visiting and exploring first hand Copan's Ruins in Honduras. Thorough 2018, she plans to travel to Cuba later this year for the XIV International Anthropology Conference. Now a University Innovation Fellows (UIF) Candidate, she is active on both her campus and neighborhood. She coördinated her church's youth group "PJ Vida Nueva" and assisted coordinating many fundraising activities to support her community.
