Strategic Resource: Indiegogo


Overview:

Indiegogo is an online, crowdfunding platform. Indiegogo is US based, howver it hosts funding campaigns from all over the world. Anyone with a valid bank account can set up a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo.

Purpose: Indiegogo exists to help those who need to raise funds for enteprises, projects or social causes.

Indiegogo charges a fee for fundraising campaigns that are done on its platform, currently 4  percent of fundraised amount  if your fundraising goal is met or 9 percent of the  fundraised  amount if your goal is not met. Other costs that arise include 3 percent third party processing fees and $ 25 for international wire  transfer fees.

Some campaigns have been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars on the platform. These campaigns have included product designs such as a salt shooting shortgun to kill flies, disaster recovery effort such as the rebuilding of Joplin Mosquein Joplin Missouri following a fire.

This platform is a great resource for entreorenuers who have a solid idea and are ready to venture forth.
