Overview

The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) was founded in 1988 and is located in NSW, Australia.  A modern focus and a drive for innovation has enabled UTS to quickly climb global rankings, currently ranked number one in Times Higher Education top 100 universities under 50. With an overall ranking of 21 worldwide for all universities founded in the last 50 years.

An industry focus with modern courses and state-of-the-art equipment has enabled its degrees and students continue to become more renounced and respected. UTS has shown a passion to continue this movement through it's 1 Billion dollar investment to fundamentally change the way that teaching, learning and research is delivered.


Student Entrepreneurship

UTS has developed a dedicated focus on innovation and student entrepreneurship. With a focus on helping to develop sustainable and competitive startups .

The university is trying to encourage both innovation and entrepreneurship, by providing a large variety of opportunities to students.

Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Innovation has been included in the course work of a few first year engineering classes for many years, through subjects called design and innovation fundamentals, Mechanical design and Engineering Communication. But in 2015, the university went a step further and created an entire course based around design thinking, Entrepreneurship and innovation all creative intelligence and innovation. Allowing students to get a bachelors, diploma or even a double degree with innovation and creative intelligence and better preparing people for an innovation based career path.


University Opportunities

During a student’s study, there are many opportunities provided by the university which range from hosting hackathons weekends, entrepreneur based societies and an incubator called the hatchery 


University - Industry Collaboration

The university of technology is known as an extremely practical university and encourages students to take on internships during their university career to better understand the job market and get real life experience. Industry professionals regularly mentor students during their semester at the hatchery and help design business models for potential student run start-up companies.


Regional and Local Economic Development

Start-Up Companies

UTS’s constent support and enterpearnural education has assested may students develop million dollar start up companies straight out of university. Some of the companies developed and formed in the UTS environment include Cuberider, which is the first private Australian company to put satelights in space and Wine stash, which is predicted to make 3 million dollars during it’s third year.
