Goal : Adapting I&E Culture into Northridge

Following are variety of strategies that will fully address our goal over a 1-3 year period:

Strategy #1: Exposing Ernie Schaeffer Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E)

  • Description:Bringing awareness to all students on I&E and making it accessible around the campus. Exposing this reliable center to any one who is interested in innovating or becoming an entrepeneur by having mentors/professors who would help by guiding them on the right steps. Mentors will adress assistance by teaching them valuable stories and personal lessons. Promoting the annual event "Arts of Innovation" to everyone and emphasizing planning by sending e-mails, text messages, social media posts, blogs, posters, flyers, and writing on college newspaper in order to maximize attendees.
  • Milestones
  1. Reaching out to the person who is in charge (Dr. Jimmy Ghandi) of this center January 2015
  2. Getting access to Ernie Schaeffer Center for I & E's website and updating any events/workshops/information February 2015
  3. Sending out welcoming e-mails to all students and describing what resources this Center for I & E has to offer March 2015
  4. Preparing and planning the annual summer event "Arts of Innovation 2015" (AOI 2015) and collaborating with the chairs of these events by bringing in important workshops/ presentations May 2015
  5. Sharing the event information all over campus and making it a prosperous event June 2015
  6. Sending out bi-weely or monthly updates on the events/workshops to everyone who is listed as AOI attendees August 2015

Strategy #2: Creating & Designing a Maker Space

  • DescriptionHaving a big room and large capacity for people to be creative within their own imagination. This room would contain modern machines that relate to additive & subtracting manufacturing, arduino softwares for programming, and 3D softwares.
  • Milestones:
  1. 'Discussing 'idea with chair, dean, and other entities where we can all brainstorm and agree on a few things; April 2015
  2. Pitch out our ideas and objectives of this "Makers Space" to the entities; June 2015
  3. Implementing a location, designing a 3D model of it, and knowing the capacity of this room; December 2015
  4. Having a cost analysis of this room to show all entities; January 2016
  5. Taking a survey of all students to know their input on the Maker Space and whether or not they will benefit from it; Janaury 2016
  6. Selecting the machines, softwares, and istallation desks where it would be feasible and accessible for all students with instrucion lessons; March 2016
