Shalin Jyotishi is a senior at the University of Georgia where his research and professional interests center around technology-led economic development and science, technology & innovation policy. Shalin developed his interest while serving as a research assistant at the UGA Institute of Higher Education where he worked on an NSF-funded Science of Science & Innovation Policy grant studying the role of university trustee in university-industry interfaces. 
He later interned in Washington, DC with the Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness and Economic Prosperity (CICEP) at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the UGA Technology Commercialization Office where he broaded his understand of science and the university's role in driving economic development. Eagar to remain engaged with the world of policy, Shalin joined the Journal of Science Policy & Governancean online research journal and 501-c3 nonprofit organization, as Advancement Associatate. In addition, he is currently interning in the Athens-Clarke County Office of Economic Development and serves as Web Administrator and Research Assistant for Tobin L. Smith, Homer A. Neal and Jennifer B. McCormick, authors of Beyond Sputnik: U.S. Science Policy in the 21st Century.
Passionate about student engagement, Shalin has had the privilage of serving as a founder or co-founder of 6 student organizations and two honors socities over the course of his college career. On the side of policy, he has served as Policy Director for a highly contested political campaign, is a member of the inagural student editorial board for the Education Law & Policy Review and remains an active in his local community. On the side of science, he has served as a research assistant in neuroscience, volunteered extensively with Atlanta-area hospitals and has published articles in a forthcoming textbook on stem cell technologies.
Shalin's latest initative involves working with the University Economic Development Association to develop strategies for connecting students with university-led economic development.
