The Green Gate at Lingnan University’s canteen represents a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and sustainable campus environment. By providing affordable and nutritious vegetarian meals, the university is catering to its students' diverse dietary needs and promoting a healthier and more environmentally conscious lifestyle. The initiative underscores Lingnan University’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and sustainability.

==== PeerConnect: A Campus-Based Tutoring and Support Platform for Academic and Financial Assistance ====
We observed that students often face difficulties in academic learning. For instance, when they have questions about the courses they are taking, they may want to ask for help but might not feel comfortable approaching professors at all times, and their peers may not always have the answers. Additionally, we recognized the financial challenges university students encounter on campus, as many are responsible for covering their daily expenses.

To address these issues, we proposed the creation of an online platform that connects students with tutors, who are also students that have completed the course within the past two to three semesters. These student tutors would be required to provide their grades for the course they wish to teach, along with their name, major, and language proficiency.

Students seeking tutoring would input their language preferences and the grades they hope to achieve (e.g. from B+ to A) before searching for a match. The platform would randomly pair students with tutors, and all sessions would be conducted on campus, preferably in designated classrooms. Each tutoring session would last 30 minutes. Students would be responsible for paying 50% of the class fee, while the remaining amount, if possible, would be sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). We estimate the fees to be $80 for a 30-minute session for beginner courses and $100 for more intermediate and advanced courses.
===='''Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign'''====
To raise the awareness of Lingnan University's female students about breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection and prevention while creating a supportive environment in which Lingnan University's male students can contribute to it. The campaign aims to empower and educate female students and their knowledge about their health. It can encourage them to take proactive steps toward their health and build an environment where female students can feel comfortable and confident to discuss their health concerns and seek advice from others, society and the university, as it fosters a great sense of community engagement among young girls. It can enhance the leadership and participation of female students in their rights for health and well-being while achieving a developed community in which males play a crucial part in protecting female health and themselves. With the collaboration and involvement of students, the university can perform and promote the strong empowerment of female students towards their bright future in the society.
==== Accessibility of Sanitary Products ====
Until 2024, there are no convenience stores or markets within Lingnan University, meaning that if female students and staff need tampons or pads, they must walk to Fu Tai. While it is not that far, it can be inconvenient during urgent situations. In Hong Kong, it's still uncommon for public restrooms to provide sanitary products, which adds to the challenges many women face regarding menstrual health. This project explores options for providing sanitary products on campus to help ease period poverty. We are considering installing vending machines in female restrooms over the whole campus that would charge a small fee (HKD 0.5 - 1) for single-use products, with payments made via Octopus card to promote cashless transactions. The pilot trial would take place in the canteen floor bathroom as it is the most used bathroom by staff, students, and guests throughout the whole campus. We recognize the importance of accessibility to sanitary products and wish to generalize this initiative to ensure that at least one female bathroom in each building on campus is equipped with these vending machines. This will provide a more convenient solution for all female students and staff, addressing the urgent need for menstrual health resources across the university and society.
