“Can people be happy if they couldn't favour other people, or devote themselves to future generations?”

Aziz Nesin (a Turkish author)

Serhat Bilge, always enthusiastic about education, innovation, and culture change operations via sustainability. Thinks and observes analytically based on engineering education alongside decision making with social consciousness and competence. A self-motivated talent trying to be methodical and versatile professional as a digital anthropologist working on modelling human behaviours to design experience and service via Sustainable Development Goals. A cyclist, swimmer, sprinter and a yogi. Math lover.

Super Power: Connecting the dots to create value and questioning.

I see myself as a digital community curator, especially with my work in the last six months. Considering my past experiences, I have a lot of confidence in learning design, people-oriented design, lean feasibility, innovation strategies, social innovation, communication and governance.

In my current position at Eczacıbaşı Holding, I learned to easily master different communication dynamics, especially with many organizations and individuals with whom I work one-on-one. Especially since the Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Coordinatorship is a very new structure, identifying the problems and creating strategies by considering the gains of all stakeholders has been my most sharpened competency. Thematically, I had the opportunity to experience impact entrepreneurship and organizational transformation by taking initiatives.

At Istanbul Technical University as part of the Stanford University Innovation Fellow program, we started a learning community initiative called ITU Learning Community. I think that the experience of reflecting on these competencies I gained in my corporate life as a community curator and coordinator in a community of one hundred and fifty people has greatly improved me.

After my undergraduate education is over, I plan to continue my education life in one of the departments of EPFL Digital Humanities, EPFL Sustainable Management and Technology or Stanford Design Impact Engineering as a share of flexibility. After completing this experience, it is one of my ideals to return to the country and create system-breaking jobs. While doing this, I think I must witness as much experience and cooperation as possible.

In particular, I would like to build innovation platforms, communities of practice and initiative programs focused on Culture and Art in Turkey in order to catalyze innovation and social innovation. At the same time, I am currently working on the foundations of building an international learning community with the UN SDG focus. Finally, setting up a digital community focused on well-being with the changing perception of health is among my greatest wishes, and I continue to analyze the cooperation potentials related to this.

"We all know that distinctiveness – originality – is valuable. We are all taught to “be yourself.” What I’m really asking you to do is to embrace and be realistic about how much energy it takes to maintain that distinctiveness. The world wants you to be typical – in a thousand ways, it pulls at you. Don’t let it happen. You have to pay a price for your distinctiveness, and it’s worth it. The fairy tale version of “be yourself ” is that all the pain stops as soon as you allow your distinctiveness to shine. That version is misleading. Being yourself is worth it, but don’t expect it to be easy or free. You’ll have to put energy into it continuously"
