What is DECA?
DECA(Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an international organization that works with schools, both high schools and colleges to, educate aspiring entrepreneurs and soon-to-be leaders. They do this by holding conferences and competitions in the following fields of business; marketing, finance, hospitality,and management.
Purpose
The purpose of DECA is to provide learning opportunities for students in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management fields to develop technical and career skills. Additionally, DECA enhances preparation for college and careers by providing programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, and connecting to business and the community. Student members leverage their experience with DECA to prepare themselves academically, become more community oriented, and professionallly responsible leaders.
Distinct Differences From Other Offerings
- DECA's scholarship program provides over $300,000 in scholarships at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) each year
- Offered at both highschools and universities
- Competitions to gain more hands on experience

Steps Required To Bring Resource to Campus
1. EXPLORE
a. Ask your student activities director what you need to do to establish a student organization on campus or look for an existing student organization (without national/international affiliation) on your campus to join forces with.
b. Find a willing faculty advisor
c. Members and advisors must pay dues
d. Each chapter must comply with the regulations of their state, provincial or territorial association to be an active organization.
2. RECRUIT
a. Find students, professors and supporters to help you out. When starting a chapter, it is important to put together a core group of people that will complete the tasks of founding an organization on campus.
b. Identify potential leaders among groups of classmates, roommates, and friends.
c. Recruiting a core group and let the national officer of DECA know you're interested in starting a chapter.
d. Organize group meetings and fill out that application!
