Hi everyone!

My name is Maria Fernanda Sagastume, but my family and friends call me “Marifer”.  I am from Panama (Central America) and I am a junior in Biomedical Engineering and STEM Education. I enjoy the tropical climate so I love going to the beach, biking and rollerblading. I’m an active member of several organizations at Florida Institute of Technology like The Biomedical Engineering Society (President), Student Government Association (Secretary), Intervarsity Cristian Fellowship, Latin American Student Association, Society of Hispanic Engineers and Future Educators of America.

I'm also a resident assistant at my university and I love being part of a great team of students that help other students in their transition to college. I always try to help my residents and make them collect valuable experiences that will help them grow as a person and as a professional in their fields. My passion is helping others and using technology in medicine to provide better diagnostics and solutions to health problems. I'm also interested in STEM Education and want to teach in the fields of Science and Technology.
