Tomohiro LoeerTomo is a childlike dreamer and stubborn optimist, an amateur permaculturist, with a UIF candidate deep curiosity towards the world of pottery, and co-founder of student organization Horizona love for baking. In the human world, he is currently studying Political Sciencean innovation strategist, Philosophy designer and Anthropology educator, working at Sophia University the intersection of research and design. Currently he is based in Tokyo. Tomo enjoyed a transdisciplinary , and intercultural upbringing by growing up in Japan, Germany, part of the team building the new College of Design at University of Tokyo and Scotland. He enjoys learning about his native Japanese cultureis a Designer & Researcher with the U-Tokyo DLX Design Lab at the Institute of Industrial Science, modern innovation, mental health and what defines creativityUniversity of Tokyo. He is an avid lover also part of Italian cuisine, dive bars and pottery, and likes to keep himself active through the teaching team sports like football and volleyballat IDEO U.
For Tomoholds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sophia University in Tokyo, the UIF program is a place where he can freely grow ideas with was a like-minded team. From his mix University Innovation Fellow at Hasso Plattner Institute of Japanese, German Design at Stanford University and Scottish background, he has grown to believe in individuality studied design at the Hasso- the ability to be yourself Plattner- and Institute in passion towards one’s work and dreamGermany.
In Horizon, he has led a diverse team of 30 members into its second year, and building projects focused on gender, refugee, environmental His UIF project - RISE was an initiative that delivered self-empowerment and innovation issues. When working with others, Tomo values the intention behind the creation of positive impact. This intention was crucial when bringing his founding members of Horizon together leadership workshops in their mission a roadtrip format to empower themselves 250+ middle and inspire other changemakers. But more importantly, he acknowledges the value of a team supporting his actions. He wants to empower others, to empower himselfhigh school students across Japan.
