Guidelines for Generating Ideas
Take a look at the following videos:
In sum, the two most important rules to hold a successful brainstorming session are:
- to suspend judgement (every idea should be captured), and,
- to build on the ideas of others.
In addition, working on a vertical surface and standing up generates more energy for the brainstorm (if you are working remotely, this translates to having a digital whiteboarding surface like Mural, where everyone can write down ideas and see the ideas others contribute). Finally, a great way to promote the flow of ideas is to introduce different constraints, doing rounds of a few minutes generating ideas considering each condition. Here is a video you can use to generate constraints during a brainstorm. Press play and then pause at random. Use the resulting constraint as an aid in your brainstorm:
- Start Here
- Submitting Assignments
- Roadmap
- Leadership Circle
- Ask Us Anything
- Community Agreements
