Tomo, is a University Innovation Fellow, passionate about empowering others, whose future lies in designing innovative and impactful learning experiences. He has pursued an interdisciplinary education, studying Anthropology, Design Thinking, Political Science, and Business at various educational institutions. Having grown up in Japan, Germany, and Scotland, Tomo brings a multicultural perspective to his work, embracing diverse viewpoints.

Tomo is a stubborn optimist, perpetual tinkerer, and amateur permaculturist, with a deep curiosity towards the world of pottery, and a love for baking. In the human world, he is an innovation strategist, designer and educator, working at the intersection of technology, and organizational strategy. He is passionate about harnessing design and education to empower individuals and teams to maximize their growth and entrepreneurial potential.
  
Tomo's diverse interests span Japanese culture, innovation, marine science, mental health, and creativity, seamlessly blending them to inspire his design approach. He has co-founded multiple organizations, initiated projects addressing gender and environmental challenges, and successfully led teams of over 30 individuals. As a Fellow and as an alumnus and coach of the HPI School of Design Thinking in Potsdam, he has also coached product and design teams around the globe.

Currently, he designs and coordinates programs at U-Tokyo DLX Design Lab, is part of the teaching team at IDEO U and runs his own consulting business. He is also partner at Vireo Lab, a venture and tech studio. Tomo holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sophia University in Tokyo, was a University Innovation Fellow at Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University and has studied design at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute in Germany.
  
In 2021, Tomo launched RISE, a pioneering project that delivered self-empowerment and leadership workshops in a roadtrip format to over 250 middle and high school students across Japan. He now operates his own consulting business, specializing in strategy and design for clients in industries such as mobility, manufacturing, and education.
