Overview
Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu is a Romanian public university founded in 1990 in the city of Sibiu. However, higher education in Sibiu has a tradition of over 200 years. The university's name is inspired by poet, philosopher, and playwright Lucian Blaga. The university is host to over 14,000 students in 9 faculties:
- Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Food Industry and Environmental Protection;
- Faculty of Economic Sciences;
- Faculty of Engineering;
- Faculty of Law;
- Faculty of Letters and Arts;
- Faculty of Medicine;
- Faculty of Human Sciences;
- Faculty of Sciences;
- Faculty of Theology.
The University defines itself by a set of 8 values: entrepreneurial spirit, organizational culture, human resources, sustainable education, high-quality research, innovation, quality, and openness. We believe these values are highly alligned with the University Innovation Fellows program.

Courses and programs
- Cisco Academy - offers Cisco Certified Network Associate Courses for people interested in networking;
- Innovation Labs: a country-wide program that helps students develop a tech start-up, teams of students from our University take part in it as well.
Encouraging faculty innovation and entrepreneurship
There is a Research, Innovation, and Development Office that supports Faculty in applications for Research Grants and an office for Intellectual Property Rights Support (Inside the ULBS HPI Knowledge Transfer Center).
ULBS D-School is soon to offer a Design Thinking Course for Students and Staff as well: the course will start in November 2022 and will be focused on co-creating a solution to optimize communication between students and teachers.
Actively supporting the university technology transfer function
- HPI Knowledge Transfer Institute at LBUS: contributes to the enhancing of economic competitiveness by stimulating and harnessing the scientific and innovative potential and by assimilating the technological progress in the key areas of ULBS.

Engaging with regional and local economic development efforts
- 5-day working on a challenge related to SDGs or given by a company during the Summer School @ULBS D-School;
- FDI Project on grant writing conducted by LBUS Research and Development Office.
