Monali is a fourth year Biomedical Engineering student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is working towards a minor in Industrial Design, and has completed a minor in French Language. Currently, she does research at the Buckley Lab at Emory University where she focuses on improving clinical outcomes in pediatric patients by studying the brain using 2 novel optical techniques: diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) and frequency domain near-infrared spectroscopy (FDNIRS). Furthermore, she is an executive member of the BME Student Advisory Board, is the director of repair sessions for Engineering World Health, and a member of Women in Science and Technology and the Society of Women Engineers. In her down time, she works at her local urgent care clinic as a medical assistant. In the past, she has served as a mentor for Women in Engineering, and for the Biomedical Engineering department. Throughout her time at Tech, she has spent two years volunteering with the Georgia Tech Football Sports Medicine team, served as the president of the French Club for three years, interned at Bard Medical, and served as a team leader for incoming freshmen students. Her experience as a Teacher's Assistant for a Clinical Observation Design Experience at Grady Memorial Hospital and Emory Hospital inspired her to pursue an academic career in the biomedical and healthcare field. Outside of academics, she enjoys being outdoors, eating pizza and ice cream, and dancing.

In the future, she hopes to pursue a doctorate degree and return to the Biomedical Engineering department at Georgia Tech to teach and contribute to the improvement of the curriculum and department.
