Bio

Hi! My name is O’Neisha Jones, a proud student here at Bethune Cookman University. I hail from the quaint and beautiful island of Grand Bahama located in The Bahamas where I was born and raised before starting my college journey here at BCU in Fall of 2022. I am a Second-Year Student majoring in Computer Science! I find great joy in many activities, hobbies, and interests such as listening to music, watching YouTube videos, listening and watching podcasts, spending time with friends and family, exercising at the gym, taking walks through nature, and exploring new places! I found myself highly interested in technology at a young age. I made the decision in the 7th grade to go after a career in Software Engineering. However, I found myself limited in resources as my little island was not very up to date in technical courses and resources. Furthermore, my family did not have the support and resources needed to send me to college. Nevertheless, I worked hard during my high school years to earn a scholarship so that I can officially pursue my career as a Computer Scientist and I desire to use any and all resources offered to me so that I can grow not only as a Computer Scientist but as a young woman with professionalism!

Achievements

In the past few years, I have worked hard to gain many achievements. In high school, I earned the title as a Student Body Leader ("Prefect"). I also graduated in the top 20 of my class out of over 125 students with a 3.55 Cumulative GPA, was inducted into my country's Honor's Society, and was awarded the Public School Scholars Program Scholarship which allowed me to be able to attend my illustrious BCU. In my first year of college, I achieved and have maintained a 4.0 GPA along with the President's List Honoree title. In that time, I have earned a certificate from the Transdisciplinary Data Scholars Development Program in the 2023 Data Economy Summer Experiential Learning Program. I also also awarded the Housing and Residence Life Resident Assistant Scholarship and I now work as an R.A. at my institution! I also work as a Student Work Aid in the Department of CIT and a Marketing Intern with the Dining Hall. My achievement lists goes on, however it is my hope that during the rest of my years here at BCU that I can grow this achievement list immensely!
