Bio
Ellie Zentner is a pre-medical sophomore studying neuroscience with minors in psychology and chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She has always been very passionate about getting a career in medicine, and this started when she got her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in 2018. Ellie's CNA experience has allowed her to work in nursing homes with residents with diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. This is what inspired Ellie to pursue becoming a neurologist so she can further help patients with neurological disorders.
Ellie has had previous experience with the Design Thinking process, which includes working with the non-profit organization Nebraska Enterprise Fund to help improve their company while working with a diverse team of other college students. Another team-building position of Ellie's is working as an intern at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Mind and Brain Health Labs. This research experience has not only solidified her interest in the neurological sciences, but also taught her many hard and soft skills in the workplace.
Outside of school, Ellie enjoys playing French horn and piano. Both performing and listening to music have been a huge part of her life for as long as she can remember. She also loves exploring nature and hiking.
Achievements
Ellie is a recipient of the Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarship at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She is also an Omaha World Herald Scholar Honorable Mention.
