Ushna is a senior studying Economics and Leadership Studies from Lahore, Pakistan. She has been active on campus through numerous student organisations—firstly, joining the Westhampton Student Government Association as a Senator on the Financial Affairs Committee, and now as the chair of the committee, she plays an integral role in deciding the allocations of student organization budgets through SOBAC. Moreover, to pursue her interest in consulting and business, she joined the Lakeside Consulting group as an Associate, and now Director of Consulting, where she works on pro-bono consulting engagements for local Richmond clients. Furthermore, she has also played a strong role in shaping the current startup ecosystem. Her junior year, she joined the founding team of Spider Ventures where she started the first 10 week Accelerator Program for budding student ideas. Then, she also founded the Spider Venture Fund, University of Richmond’s first organization focused on Venture Capital and Private Equity. Other than professional organisations, she’s passionate about promoting South Asian culture and is a member of both the South Asian Students Alliance and Bollywood Jhatkas!

Ushna is interested in entrepreneurship, technology, and venture capital. Previously, she has founded her own Ed-tech startup, Kumi, a Learning Management System for schools in Pakistan impacted by COVID-19, as well as been involved in numerous early stage startups in Product roles. This past summer, she was a fellow at a leading Silicon Valley early stage VC firm, True Ventures, as well as being a Catalyst fellow at On Deck, and a member of the investment track at Dorm Room Fund. Moreover, she is also currently an Amazon Web Services University Scout for the University of Richmond. Thus, Ushna is passionate about the startup world and hopes to increase its’ presence at the University of Richmond as well.
