Bio
Hi! my name is Imgard, and I am from Miami, FL. I am a Product Design major with a concentration in physical manufacturing and global development. I have a passion for education, particularly in increasing access and closing the gap for not just black students, but black people across the black community regardless of age, country of origin or gender. Immigrant opportunities are especially of my concern when closing the gap because of the additional disadvantages that black immigrants may face. I am passionate for physical and mental wellness and conversations around them generally and for the black experience. I enjoy fitness, being active and sharing my experiences and learning new ones along the way. I aspire to use design and design thinking for education and development in the global context, starting with my family's home country -- Haiti.
Achievements
- Creating a black hair care business on campus to challenge the disparities of hair care access and service on a primarily white campus. - Working to combat youth unemployment by marketing job opportunities with/through additive manufacturing education in South Africa. - Co-created space for community gathering of black students at Stanford and other schools in the Bay Area by creating a VSO (student organizations) targeted at making room a minoritized group on a primarily white campus.
