Distinct Differences From Other Offerings

Akanksha Foundation is non-profit organisation, and is one of the largest networks of public-private partnership schools in India. It has researched and adopted that idea of “Three outcomes of an Excellent Education”. This idea says that student achievement, youth development, and community engagement” are the three ideal deliverables for any system education, and Akanksha Schools continuously strive to achieve these. These schools have excellent educators, progressive pedagogy, ability to maximise resources, parents as partners, and accountability to the learning curve. Partners of Akanksha Foundation are Thermax Foundation, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Pune Municipal Corporation, and Pimpiri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Impact Achieved For Students and Campus

Akanksha Foundation achieved significant impact on the lives of school children, especially of those from the low-income communities of Mumbai and Pune. As it non-profit establishment, it aims to innovate the students and trains them to develop required life skills to emerge as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and decision makers, in their future. Currently, Akanksha reaches out to around 6500 children through two models: the after-school or center model and the school model. Akanksha has 3 afterschool centers, remaining from its older project and 21 schools in Mumbai and Pune, run in partnership with the Mumbai and Pune Municipality, as part of the School Project.Screenshot (55).png

Notes About How This Resource is Deployed

The model of the organization is designed to establish good teams, and consideable progress in all aspects that are required for a student. The first step starts with School Development Review (SDR) process, which defines the goals, and also the plan for implementaion and evaluation. The model is based on three basic parameters which are prove, multiply, and advocate. The organization is also in partnership with various teacher training institutions, and strives to bring the change from systemic level.

Steps Required To Bring Resource to Campus

Students from a campus can get engaged with the Foundation, primarily by volunteering for it. They serve as role models and friends to all Akanksha students. The Foundation offers volunteering positions both in Mumbai and Pune. These volunteers can share their learnings with their peers back on the campus.

It also conducts mentoring sessions in Mumbai in association with DSP Merrill Lynch, ICICI, Voltas Ltd., J.M. Financial, Mastek Foundation and the RPG Group at various educational institutions. If any institution is interested hosting such session, they mail to karthik.chinta@akanksha.org
