I chose to explore graduated from James Madison University in 2019 with a degree in mechanical engineering because where I was always passionate about focused my studies in the environment sustainability and renewable energy spaces. While completing my education at JMU, I thought that having worked in the skills of an engineer would allow me maker space teaching students how to make a lasting impact on the world around me. I started bring their ideas to gain experience life and participated in student research with the field focus of alternative energy by participating in undergraduate research in electric vehicles. This project I was a University Innovation Fellow from 2018-2019 and learned how to be a better listener, innovator, and mentor. The skills I learned as a fellow have followed me into my first encounter with working on career as a team lead at Canon where I identify new technical areas the company should create products within. I have worked on many projects in the agriculture, biomaterials, and medical spaces that has allowed me to gain technical skills in electrical engineering innovate and develop use my leadership skills as the Vice President knowledge of human centered design to create products that matter to people and also help the EAA clubworld become more sustainable.</span></span>

These classes covered topics that involved creating a small scale wind turbine for seemed simple but addressed some of the Department most difficult parts of Energy Collegiate Wind Competitionthe interviewing process, resume creation, and language building that sometimes gets overlooked while attending university. As a participant in this project, I continued learned how to listen to work on electrical systems my peers and iterate to ensure that our workshops were addressing their needs and developed creating value. The skills I learned through my knowledge experience as a fellow has allowed me to feel confident speaking up in mechanical engineering by creating an axial flux generator for the turbine with assistance from my teamworkplace and help to promote others to similar positions. This capstone project challenged me I have learned how important it is to communicate clearly and work with on a large team with a common goal and further developed my understanding of system integrationyour peers to create innovation that matters.</span></span>
